Established in 1992, CDWCR is a community-based, non-profit organization that provides assistance to foreign care workers in seeking improvements to their employment conditions and immigration status.
CDWCR is advocating that foreign care workers and their families be granted landed status upon arrival in Canada.
CDWCR’s mission is shaped by the belief that foreign care workers deserve respect and recognition for the valuable services they provide and their important contributions to the betterment of the Canadian society.
[New] Changes to Permanent Residence Application Fees
IRCC announced that effective April 30, 2024, the permanent residence application fees including those of the following Live-in Caregiver Program,
Home Child Care Provider Pilot, and Home Support Worker Pilot will increase:
- Principal applicant: From $570.00 to $635.00
- Accompanying spouse or common-law partner: From $570.00 to $635.00
- Accompanying dependent child: From $155.00 to $175.00

Employment standards - New Minimum Wage
Effective June 1, 2023, minimum wage is $16.75 per hour.
The law in B.C. sets standards for payment, compensation and working conditions in most workplaces. The standards promote open communication, fair treatment and work-life balance for employees.

Migrant Caregiver's Manual
Effective April 30, 2023, foreign caregivers can apply for permanent residency with reduced work experience, from 24 months to 12 months
Effective January 30, 2023, some family members of foreign workers may be eligible to apply for open work permit.
